Skating Party

I took Parker to our skating party last night at the roller rink. She was very aprehensive at first and didn't even want to try it. It didn't take her long, and she was out there on her own. She skated with the kids all by herself for almost an hour. She was so cute. She and Austin kept pulling each other down. She loved falling! These pictures are in slow motion!

This skate will be a couples skate! We all fall down!
Time to get up!
Wait, he won't let me up!
You better watch it mister!
Here is a video of her skating.

WHAT A DAY!!!!!!

I walked into my classroom today to find about 1 inch of standing water everywhere. It was gushing from the pipes that heat my room. They weren't frozen, just busted. Maintenance had everything fixed and cleaned up by 10. I spent the rest of the day cleaning up the mess they made by moving everything out of the way. I am thankful that I didn't lose that much. Nothing that can't be replaced. In fact, I cleaned my room and got rid of several things that I haven't used since I've started teaching.
It definitely wasn't the way to begin a week! Notice the bookshelf. You can see how high the water level got.

Snow bunnies

Today after school, Shelbie came over and she helped Parker and I make a snowman. I just love the determination in their faces when they were pushing the snowballs. We didn't have a carrot, so we used a piece of blue sidewalk chalk that we found on the porch. So, it had a blue nose!

Parker is trying so hard to push this snowball!
Argh, this is hard! Yeah! Snowman:)
Now it's time for angels.

Dirtbike girl!

Areacross at the Nutter Center
Matt & I went on our first, of twelve dates this year. We've decided to do one date a month and take turns planning them. Tonights date was planned by Matt. We took Parker & Riley with us too! We took the girls to the Nutter Center to watch Arenacross. We took them last year too, but this year was much more fun. Parker had a blast.

Parker & Riley

We asked her what her favorite part was and she said, "when that big big guy waved at me". The story behind this was that 3 guys were doing tricks on the dirtbikes. She had been waiting for them to do tricks the whole night. One guy did a flip with the bike and then circled around the track waving at people to get them excited and on their feet. Unbeknownst to Parker, he was waving to everyone. She believed that he was waving at HER! It was so cute. She turned around and said, "Mom, that guy just waved at me two times!"

Some of the racers were introduced at the beginning of the show when the lights were off. One of the riders came by us. (We had aisle seats) His name was Shane Slemmel (I think). He didn't do anything extraordinary. Just neat that he came right by us.

Shane

Matt's favorite part of the night was when Miss Areacross came right beside him. The camera was filming and Parker was on the Jumbo screen just a waving and waving. All the while, her dad was checking out the rear of Miss Areacross. It was funny!

Overall, our first date went great. We got there early, didn't have to wait long when we left, and didn't have to mess with bad weather.

My Grandma

My Grandma Ross passed away this evening around 8:40. I had just left her house around 7:15. I am thankful that I got to spend some time with her this evening. She went peacefully in her bed after battling 16 years and 8 months of cancer. She was a fighter!

This picture was taken a few years ago at Hyde Park Grill for my grandparents anniversary.
Say a little prayer for my Grandpa. I love him dearly.

Blokus

We have discovered a new game that we love playing. Riley got one for Christmas and then Rosie went out and bought the other version of it. You can also play it online for those of you who like gaming online. It is a strategy game that makes you think. The goal is to get rid of all of your pieces. The trick is that you can't put two of your pieces beside one another. You can put the corners together, but not the sides. Eventually, the other players block you and the winner is the person with the most amount of square/triangles left. If you have a few seconds, play as a guest against the computer. I played online last night for 2 hours. I only one two times! That computer is good;) The games can only be purchased at Education Station, or a teacher store. Major retailers don't carry it.

OH, MAMA MIA

A lot of Mama is going on here at the Penhorwood house! Harper has decided that her first word will be Mama. She said it several times last week. Parker said, dada first, so it's fair! She has added a few more words to her vocab since then. She now says, dada, mama, baba, and nana (no). They all pretty much came on the same day! I'm convinced that her saying mama first had something to do with Parker.....

I received my favorite movie of all time, Mamma Mia! for Christmas and Parker has watched it at least once each day since then. It is so funny. She knows the lyrics to the songs and sings what she thinks she hears. On new years eve, she watched it 6 times!!!!

Some of her lyrics are as follows:

"Don't go chasin your demotion. Way all your life on me" The real lyrics are:

"Don't go wasting your emotion, lay all your love on me".

"Honey, Honey, how you frill me" The real lyrics are:

"Honey, Honey, how you thrill me".

I definately believe, that she will be on stage someday!!! If you like musicals, you'll love this movie, if you don't, you may think it is a bit weird. I absolutely LOVE this movie. I saw it at the theater with my mom and we loved it. I was so close to getting up and dancing in the aisles at the end of the movie. Some older womand did it instead! It was neat to see well known actors sing. You just don't think about them singing, just acting. Here is a short performance from Parker.
